Every pet deserves to have their pain controlled and be comfortable after any painful experience. Our clinic considers this a minimum standard of care. Pain medications are included in all our surgeries and painful procedures. Before the procedure is done, your pet will receive and injection which helps to minimize pain and discomfort during the post surgical period as well as decrease the amount of anesthetic agents necessary during the procedure. This also helps your pets nerves avoid becoming too excited so control is easier to gain post operativally when additional medications may be required. You will also be offered pain medication to be used at home after the surgery. These medications may come in the form of oral NSAID tablets (non-steroidal anti-inflammitory drugs), opioid drugs or in the form of a patch that contains special timed release medications to last over a period of days.
